Food Heroes

Here are our very local food heroes that help to stock your Village Larder. We've enjoyed sampling their wares, so you can be assured of best quality, local fare from people who are passionate about what they produce. We are always looking for new tasty groceries, so if you have a recommendation for a new local food hero of yours, please do let Liz know.

Butcher

Richard Cook of Washington and 80 year-old apprentice butcher Bill. Your meat orders made specifically for you. Richard developed the 'Washington Wonder' exclusively for Village Larder.

Baker

Brothers Peter & Phil Friedli owners of the Model Bakery in Steyning supply our bread fresh each morning, except Sunday mornings, when they have a deserved lie-in. The Friedli family have been baking bread in Steyning for over 40 years and have an enviable reputation.

Candlestick Maker

Yes we really do have a Candlestick Maker in the village. Lesley Sparks produces soya wax candles from her home in Washington. We have a small range of her candles on show.

Pie Maker

Our pies and sausage rolls are produced by Kates Cookhouse (don't miss her Potato, Onion & Cheese pies) and Chanctonbury Butchers of High Street, Steyning.
